The UK Active Awards recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across health, wellbeing and fitness in the UK. The criteria for nominations for the Outstanding Leadership Team Award is a team that has had a positive impact through collaborative teamwork and can demonstrate how they have overcome challenges and celebrated successes through inspirational approaches to leadership whilst supporting the mission of getting the nation more active.
InspireAll’s Swimming team was nominated for the award to recognise their significant impact on their local communities. The team delivers all aspects of swimming lessons to children and adults. The team’s student-centric approach has been instrumental in engaging people to learn
to swim, demonstrating the benefits of exercise, and enhancing water safety.
With big hearts and ambitions, the swimming team is committed to working collaboratively, sharing their learnings and successes in delivering swimming lessons, progressing students through the Swim England Learn to Swim scheme, and diversifying the swimming offering to the local community.
The swimming team’s commitment to constant management of sessions and analysis of the pool space is a testament to their dedication. They are always identifying opportunities to open more classes, redesign pool space, and ensure as many individuals as possible are able to learn this important life skill.
The team has also been able to diversify the swimming offering to increase awareness of this life skill. This has included establishing educational projects around drowning prevention week, working with local schools and nurseries, running water safety courses, and developing the lesson offering with alternative activities, such as water polo and synchronised swimming, to keep older children active.
This hard work has resulted in a record-breaking number of children and adults learning to swim across the portfolio of centres.
Remember, you have until 30 August to vote, with the winners announced at the UKActive Awards ceremony on 3 October.
