It’s been a strange year for everyone, but with just a few weeks to wait for the festive season InspireAll are proud to be able to offer the local communities alternative ways to enjoy some festive cheer.
With lockdowns and limitations on large gatherings this year, the normal schedule of Park Events held in the parks and open spaces on behalf of Hertsmere Borough Council has had to change. This time of year would normally be a chance to gather together in towns for the traditional switching of lights to celebrate the festive period. With these not being possible InspireAll are proud to present a brand new event to bring local communities together – Window Wanderland.
To bring some joy and cheer to the streets of Hertsmere Winter Wanderland allows the whole family to get involved by creating fun and festive illuminated displays in windows of homes, businesses, schools, shops or even in your front garden. This free event is available to all to get involved and create your own display in your home or garden all you need to do is register your display at www.windowwanderland.com
Cllr Rabbi Alan Plancey, Mayor of Hertsmere, said: “Given the huge pressures and difficulties facing many of our residents at the current time, and the ongoing restrictions on our way of life, we’re keen to support any and every way we can celebrate and promote Hertsmere’s community spirit.
“The Window Wanderland scheme is a wonderful idea and I’d encourage as many residents and businesses to get on board by decorating their windows and gardens, and help spread joy this festive season.
“As a council, we will be doing our bit, by using the many entries submitted to our Christmas card competition in a display on the front window of our Civic Offices.
“It’s a great way of showcasing the creativity and positivity of our young people, and I hope will bring a smile to everyone’s faces.”
Winter Wanderland takes place on the 19th & 20th December between 6pm – 9pm so get ready to wrap up warm and go for a family stroll through your neighbourhood and take in all the wonderful displays in a safe way.
