The summer holidays can be a difficult time for families and their children. The children of course look forward to it with great anticipation, something we can all relate to; those endless summer days filled with fun and possibility.
For parents however it can be a time of extra stress, how exactly can we fill those endless summer days? What activities are out there to take part in during the summer months and how can we ensure that our children are taking part in leisure activities that enrich, empower and enhance their development?
The fact is that summer can be the perfect time to focus on the needs of young people in a much more relaxed and social setting than the more formal one of school. That might be an activity they already enjoy, something they’d love to learn or even a valuable life skill they can go on to develop for the future. Combine that with activity, fitness and time spent with other children or together as a family and summer becomes much less of a worry and becomes a time full of potential, physically, socially and emotionally.
Holiday clubs are always high on every parent’s summer list but often the wide range of ages can present issues. InspireAll ensures our holiday clubs are tiered perfectly (for children aged 5-7 & 8-14 years old) offering full-day sessions with dedicated staff and a wide variety of Ofsted regulated activities, with fun and structured sessions taking in everything from outdoor sports to craft activities and bouncy castles.
Climbing is for those who relish a different challenge and our facilities at Furzefield Leisure centre is open Thursday-Sunday during the holidays for hour-long sessions that include a 15-minute briefing. Activities range from climbing walls to dice towers and giant staircases ensuring there is something that the whole family can enjoy.
Soft play combines sensory and physical activities, aimed at babies and young children to engage and stimulate through a range of activities such as spiral slides, a giant spider tower and even a cafe area, all set in a safe and secure environment open seven days a week.
For those with a love of moving and stretching themselves, there are also junior gym sessions available for 10-15 year olds. Sessions take place in the newly refurbished gym with our friendly instructors on hand to offer advice and guidance on technique and equipment.
Football will always be popular whatever the weather, it’s social, promotes physical activity and builds team working and a whole range of other skills. That’s why Bushey Grove Leisure Centre offers drop-in football sessions throughout the summer, where anyone aged 5-14 can simply come along and learn new skills, enjoy the facilities and take part in mini football tournaments.
Tennis is also available and is always popular as a summer activity, we offer sessions supervised by LTA qualified coaches for 4-16 year olds, to improve technique, promote physical activity and above all; to simply have fun.
